Raw Nori Sheets
Nori, along with other seaweeds, has been a dietary staple of Asian and Pacific Island cultures for thousands of years. This historic relationship has lead to a greater understanding of the value and benefit of seaweed. The extraction of Nori’s individual components and compounds are used in numerous products. For the most complete nutritional benefit however, raw sheets of dried Nori are relatively unmatched.
Raw Nori is 50% protein by weight and full of vitamins and minerals. Ounce for ounce, it contains nearly 10 times the Potassium of a raw banana and nearly five times the vitamin C of an equivalent serving of raw oranges. Raw Nori sheets also contain more Vitamin A than broccoli or apricots as well as numerous essential trace minerals.
Our Nori sheets are grown in closed tanks to ensure that they are not contaminated. Once they are harvested, they undergo a proprietary three stage drying process that ensures the product is shelf stable and completely raw. Consumers can see the difference in Raw Nori just by inspecting its signature dark purple color. Though they are certified organic by the certifying agency in China, this certification is not recognized by the USDA.
Nori is most commonly known for its use in sushi, but it can also be used to make a nutrient dense wrap for almost any food. Crumbled Nori adds a salty crunch to salads and soups while thin slices of Nori are also great as an edible garnish for any meal.
